Yummy Treats 12-12-11 no-bake dessert.

Hey Scrappers, today is monday, boo! lol but it's one day closer to Christmas! yey! So I decided since I've skipped a few Yummy Treat posts, today would be a good day to share some goodies :)

Today I have two tested yummy treats, that I made for Thanksgiving, they were both a big hit!

First, Peanut Butter Chocolate Dessert Recipe! Yum! I found this recipe via Taste Of Home

Ingredients:

20 chocolate cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, divided

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup peanut butter

1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, divided

1 carton (16 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided

15 miniature peanut butter cups, chopped

1 cup cold milk

1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate fudge pudding mix

Directions:

-Crush 16 cookies; toss with the butter. Press into an ungreased 9-in. square dish; set aside.
-In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, peanut butter and 1 cup confectioners' sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with peanut butter cups.
-In another large bowl, beat the milk, pudding mix and remaining confectioners' sugar on low speed for 2 minutes Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Fold in remaining whipped topping.
-Spread over peanut butter cups. Crush remaining cookies; sprinkle over the top. Cover and chill for at least 3 hours. Yield: 12-16 servings.

Sounds good, Right?!! it is! I also read in the reviews, to try it frozen. I had enough left (because I made two) I froze it, and it was super good frozen!

Next Yummy Treat is Cinnamon Honey Butter! This is so simple, and fancy! I found this reciper via Fly Through Our Window. I also made a double batch of this, because why not LOL. Half is also frozen so I will be taking that with me to the in-laws house for Christmas!

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter at room temp

1 cup of powdered sugar
1 cup of honey

2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon

Directions:

With a Mixer whip the butter (make sure it’s soft and room temp) add to it, the powdered sugar, then the honey, then the cinnamon. Whip it good. Scrape the sides. Whip it again.

My Butter wasn't as warm as room temp, but it was soft, I just couldn't wait anymore lol. so my butter wasn't as fluffy and it should have been, but it was still yummy, and I'm not sure but it may have gave the butter more of a honey taste than what the texas road house has. both are equally good!

look what I made this morning! Pumpkin French Toast! This turned out super yummy, the kids loved it too! I didnt follow the recipe really, I don't have punkin pie spice so I used my cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, and just eyeballed the amout in the palm of my hand, I also added a tea spoon of vanilla. and while it was cooking I dusted it with some cinnamon sugar to add a bit more sweetness. I hope you give that recipe a try, something fun and different for a fall flavored breakfast! Yum!

Yummy Treats! Pumpkin French Toast

I was just about to get off the computer for a bit when I remembered it was Wednesday! time for another Yummy Treat post! Ok so I JUST NOW found this recipe rolling through on my facebook, and it's got me Huuunnnngggrrry! I love french toast so how could this recipe go wrong! This was found on $5 Dinners

Pumpkin French Toast.
Yield – 4 servings
Preparation Time – 5 minutes
Cooking Time – 15 minutes

Ingredients
•14 slices whole wheat sandwich bread
•3 eggs
•1/2 cup milk
•3/4 cup canned pumpkin
•1 tsp homemade pumpkin pie spice
•Butter and syrup for serving
•Fresh fruit or smoothie as side

Directions
•Set out the bread for dipping.
•In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, pumpkin and pie spice until smooth.
•Dip each side of the bread and cook on a hot, greased griddle or skillet. Flip after 1 – 2 minutes.
•Once all are cooked, serve with butter and maple. And a side of fresh fruit.
•If freezing, let cool completely to reduce freezer burn.
•Enjoy this perfect fall “breakfast for dinner”!

Sooo how many of went out and bought the Lion King on Blu-Ray this week?! I know it's on MY Christmas list, lol. when I was a kid it was my favorite movie, heck I still love that movie and it still makes me cry! lol even one of my friends from back in the day commented on my facebook about how all she could think about was how much I loved that movie every time she saw the commercials, lol.... which leads me to my New Release! Yummy Treats! Halloween treat editon!

Halloween is just around the corner, are you ready? my kids have their costumes, but I've gotta get ready for the fun at Gage's School! so this week I want to help you with some super cute Yummy Treat ideas that will make you look like the coolest mom ever when you send these treats with your kidos.

First Lil' Frankensteins, these are super cute, and super easy! I found these at Craft-o-maniac's Blog

Marshmallow's dipped in colored chocolate and chocolate, for the face she used gel but when I make them I'm sure I can use piped chocolate so that it hardens.

Next another super easy marshmallow pop, these ones look like candy corn, so cute! I found these pops at Casa Sonrisa's BlogAgain, marshmallows dipped in colored chocolate. this one is a little easier than the frankies, I can think of a millon other ways to make these fun marshmallow pops, so much fun, even the kids can help dip them!

Cookies! I can't leave these out, my kids LOVE cookies, and these fun cookies look like candy corn too!

This "recipe" comes from Contry Living. Check out how easy this recipe is! they used refrigerated sugar cookie dough, easy right?! your more than welcome to try this idea with your own favorite recipe though. and then simply dip the ends in chocolate! Yum!

Yummy Treat! Cream Cheese Croissants

YUM, that just sums it up! I made these twice now, and the kids and I ate them before I could take a snap shot! well mine didn't come out looking as pretty so maybe that's why, lol. alrighty here's the recipe, this came from the Rumbly In My Tumbly Blog.

Strawberry Cream Cheese Croissants

Ingredients:

1 package of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1/4 cup of homemade strawberry jam
4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup of confectioners sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg + 1 tsp of water for egg wash

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Cream until there are no lumps.
Unroll each crescent roll. On the fattest part of the triangle place 1 tsp on cream cheese mixture and one tsp of jam. Roll into a croissant shape.
Whisk together egg and water for egg wash and brush over each croissant.
Bake for 8-10 minutes until croissants are golden brown and inside is no longer doughy. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Now here is what I Changed.... The first time I made this recipe just like it lists here, but doubled it since it looked soo good. I ended up with wayyy tooo much filling mix, and it was pretty runny, not sure if it was because I doubled it or not, either way it still tasted super good! the Next time I made it I doubled it again, well because cream cheese blocks come in 8 oz. and well it was good. so this time I left OUT the egg and just mixed up the cream cheese and sugar with the vanilla, and this gave me a super thick filling, and also too much for two packs of crescent rolls so I'd say grab 3. then just fill it like it says add the jelly, I also didnt do the egg wash, and bake it up. these are super good and if you had friends over to share these with they would think you were a master baker, really these are that good!

Scrapping Survivor 3!

Today is the day Ginger Scraps Scrapping Survivor 3 starts! I'm really hoping I will set aside my designing a little bit so I can play along, I really need something to force me to scrap! so if you haven't checked it out yet, dash over and read Ginger's cute story about how we got stuck up in the attic, her stories are one of my favorite things about survivor. well so I missed my Kit Discovery for today and I’m really late at blogging anything lol, Ana's birthday party was this weekend so I was cleaning and preparing for that and didn't have much time for digi world. I should be back to normal by tomorrow lol, and I'll be hosting a Speed Scrap at Ginger Scraps tomorrow (9/6/11) at 1pm Est so it will be a good lunch time while the kids are at school speed scrap!!!! so I hope to see you there! Yummy! Cookie Dough Truffles

it's wednesday, and if your week is dragging I've got the recipe to pick you right up! plus it so easy! I discovered this Yummy Treat on Pinterest early this month and I have already made these a few times, my hubby LOVES them! so whats the treat? Cookie Dough Truffles!!! I got the recipe from Love & Olive Oil but I left out a step or two so I could eat it sooner lol. so here's the original recipe...

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
Yield: 3-4 dozen Prep Time: 1 hour Total Time: 2 1/2 hours
Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk or soy milk
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
14 oz dark chocolate candy coating

Directions:
Beat butter and sugars and in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add soymilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt and mix on low speed (or by hand) until incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips.
Cover and chill dough for 1 hour.
When dough is firm enough to handle (it may help to lightly flour your hands), form dough into 1" balls and arrange on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper. Place sheets in freezer and let chill for 30 minutes.
Melt chocolate candy coating in a double boiler or in microwave according to package directions. Using forks or a dipping tool, dip cookie balls into candy coating to cover. Tap fork on side of pan to remove any excess coating, and return to waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Chill until set. Store, chilled, in an airtight container for up to 1 week (though good luck making them last that long).

and here's what I changed/ left out...so I mixed it up like it says but I used just 2% milk. then I may have taken a few spoonfuls out to eat, then I chilled it. once it was chilled I rolled the balls and then rather than going through melting the chocolate, I just crushed up the leftover chips and rolled the balls in the chocolate crumb and popped them in to a container and stuck them back in the fridge to sneak a treat every few mins lol. I’m telling you these are so good!, now on my second batch I didn't do any outer coating and just froze them in a jar. BUT if I were making these to take to any occasion I would coat them in the melted chocolate and make them look cute. so there you have it, I hope you enjoyd reading, and I inspired you to get in you kitchen this week and make something to treat your self!

New Release 8/26! Charity Car Wash!

good morning! I hope your week went smoothly if your in the back to school routine, or I hope you had an awesome week if school hasn't stated for you yet. Gage's school technically starts on Monday, but this last week he was in kindercamp which was only 2 hours long just to get him used to how kindergarten works and get to know his teacher a little bit. OH! and we took him to the dentist this week, he's got his first loose tooth! oh my goodness kids really grow up way to fast, it makes me want to have more babies!

alright lets get down to business lol new release this morning and it's a charity kit! a few months ago while sitting in church during the little announcements, they told us they are working on setting up the basement of the coffee house (which is run by the church) renovating it, for the teens, well anyone who wanted to hang out there, to make it a fun place for the kids to hang out, meet, have some fun and stay out of trouble in a faith friendly environment. being a church they are asking for some help in any area that anyone could provide. This got me thinking while i plan on volunteering my time, I also thought about the gifts and opportunity that has been giving to me, I could make and sell a kit with all proceeds going to this project...

Yummy Treats! Funnel Cakes

It's Wednesday, the week is almost over! Today I've got a tested and approved Yummy Treat for you today! it's close to fair time well around here it's been fair time all month long. I don't know about your fairs but the fairs around here can really empty your pockets, so for today I want to share with you a treat that will maybe help you not want this tasty fair treat once you head to the fair and then you can spend your money else where... or just make this yummy treat just because you wanna, these would even be great for parties. so what is the Yummy Treat for today..... Mini Funnel Cakes! YUM! I made these a few weeks ago, and the kids and I couldn't get enough! Taylor Takes a Taste is the blog where I got the recipe from, I'm going to post her photos because, well mine just didn't come out looking so cute, but still tasted super good! just a note from me, this still makes quite a bit of batter so expect at least 5-6 slightly bigger cakes i just used a small pan with out the cookie cutter, so in my house this was a bit much for me and the 2 kidos, but by the time we went to the fair there was no craving for funnel cakes :)

Mini Funnel Cakes

Makes about 15-20 4in diameter cakes (will vary depending on how much batter used in each cake)

Dry ingredients

1 1/2 cups AP Flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup powdered sugar

Wet ingredients

1 1/3 cup milk

1/4 tsp lemon zest

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg

Sift the dry ingredients into a large container that you can easily pour from (like a plastic pitcher). In a separate bowl, beat the egg with the rest of the wet ingredients. Pour wet ingredients into the dry and stir until a thick batter forms. Using a funnel, pour batter into a squeeze bottle. The batter is thick so be patient for it to flow into the bottle. You may also pour the batter directly from the pitcher into the plastic squeeze bottle.

In a large pan, pour in your favorite frying oil until it is about 1/2 inch deep, and heat to 350F (I used peanut oil). Place metal 4in metal rings into pan. Depending on the size of the pan, you can fit 1-4 ring. Squeeze batter into ring and cook until ring is solid (30 seconds-1min). Using tongs, remove metal ring and let cakes float. Flip and cook the other side for 30 seconds to a minute or until a nice light golden brown. These cook very quickly so be careful not to burn. Try experimenting with your first few to find a cooking time that works best for your oil and pan set up.

Once golden brown, remove from pan and place onto brown paper bags to let the excess oil drain. Immediately top with powdered sugar. Best if eaten when still warm right after frying.

oops i almost forgot to post today! today is Gage's fist day of kindergarten well really it's kindercamp this week to get him used to how things work in kindergarten, so we're all up early getting ready to head to school, but of course i had to pop on my computer when i remembered i had to post! lol so this week i'm flashing you back way back to last year i released this cute little mini "Paper Ana" i think this is still one of my favorite kits because it's just so cute and beautiful, i love all the pretty patterns i used in this kit, and the paper doll can be classic or modern depending on which dress you put her in.

what happened!

lol so I said I would be posting more and here I am, it's Friday and I haven't even posted yet. well I have good reasons I suppose. This week's new releases are postponed until Wednesday 8/17 because Ginger Scraps is doing a server upgrade to get ready for Survivor!!! yep! I hope you sign up, it's super fun and it's a great prize package! if you didn’t know or forgot I won last year, and I have to say I still love the layouts I made from last year the most out of all my layouts! so I’ll be posting a freebie along with the new releases this Wednesday so I hope you pop back here.

as for why I didn't post all week, well I have a good excuse for that as well, I went camping with the family! we had a wonderful time! the kids really loved it! DH will tell you it wasn't that good, but i keep telling him if we had stayed home the kids would have gotten on his nerves just the same lol. any ways here’s some pics

we went to Cooksburg Pa at Cook Forest, Day one: so that is our camp site we could see the river, we set up our tent and then headed to the deer ranch, that was cool, we got to pet the deers that came close, if you've never felt a deers soft antler, its really soft like a bunny, lol, one of the deers licked my hand i was pretty excited. then it started to poor rain i mean really poor so we went to their indoor area that had mount of some animals and after that we went next door to a indoor glow in the dark putt putt gulf.

day 2 well it rained all night the kids did okay their first night in the tent but woke us up at like 6:30 am and we all had to pee so we figured we'd all pile in the truck go to the bathroom and then drive around and find breakfast, finally the sun came out at like 10am so we headed down to the river and got a canoe. the river was super low we kept running in to the rocks and ana screamed and cried the entire 2.5 hours down the river, yep super fun. lol. after that we got ice cream and that made her happy. then we headed to the forest and saw senccea point and the fire tower. i got some cute shots.

day 2/3 we got back from the park and hung out at the campsite, here's gage trying to rub two sticks to start our fire lol, i'm so glad i took the DSes because they kept our insanity, when the kids just wouldn’t stop i handed them their games and we could relax. we saw a few fun gift shops i got a the kids some tee's and i got a sign for in the house " a fisherman lives here with the best catch of his life" it cute.

day3 we headed to clear creek park area for a place called farmers inn they had a petting zoo and restaurant so we spent the day there then went down to the river to swim or walk lol the kids loved that they were sitting in the river throwing rocks and i took some shots of the river and of them playing and then we headed to the tent had some dinner then i wanted some shots of the river during sunset well the river turned the wrong way so it wasn’t as pretty as i wanted but the shots i got look good i think.

this morning day 4 we tried to go to some flea market and DH got lost and just kept going lol so we didnt get to see anything for the last time so we got home fairly early and ended up eating breakfast in our town lol.

Snacks for Dad!

Hello!

Today I want to share a fun recipe for a snack that even the kids can help out with. This will be a great treat for dad on Father's Day.

Pizza Bagel Bites

2 plain bagels, split

1 small jar pizza sauce

1 pkg pepperoni slices

3/4 cup diced fully cooked ham

1/4 cup real bacon bits

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 400. Place bagels face up on a baking sheet. Spread with pizza sauce. Arrange five to seven slices of pepperoni on each, covering the bagel hole with one slice. Top each with ham, bacon and cheese. Bake at 400 for 12-14 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Good morning!!! How are you today? I hope you had a great Easter weekend and made lots of memories for scrapping! :) Today I want to share with you a few layouts that came from the template chat the other day. If you missed it - I do hope you'll try to make the next one. It's always a great time to chat with other ladies that love to digi-scrap too! Here are a couple layouts that I found in the Pretty in Green gallery after the speed scrap:

Also - I just want to mention that there's a fun little tutorial to get you started adding things to your wish list in the GS store over on the Ginger Scraps blog today. Hey, did you meet my new bloggin girl! She’s fantastic, actually I don’t know anyone who loves to blog more than her, I knew she would be an awesome fit for my team! Speaking of my team do you know who they are, I bet not, I’m terrible I had them all gather up photos so I could introduce them and I never did so I’d like to at least get their names out there, they really are the best CT team EVER!

I’ve also got more alittle more news I’ve been trying to blog about for a few days now, Jacque was part of an awesome blog hop sort of deal called Bloggamaina! I hopped on over to her blog to support her and get a chance at winning a super cool prize, didn’t think I would win being the very first to post, but the random number that she drew was 1! Me! Pretty awesome! I was super excited! It came in the mail this week, and I’ve been playing with it on my laptop, learning it and getting used to it. It’s way better to use on my laptop than the mouse touch pad that are on those things, needless to say I’m super happy I have it! So here’s a pic of me right after I opened it! My 5 year old son took the pic, not to bad, but he did take like 10. Gotta love digital!

Hi there!

Jacque here - or maybe more known around digi-land as Get 2 Scrappin'. I am so excited to be a part of Rachel's team as a blogger and I look forward to interacting with you all here on the Pretty in Green blog!

I'll tell you a little bit about me just in case you are interested! :) I'm a stay at home mom with 2 boys that like to drive me a little nuts! D3 is almost 4 and TT is 2. They make for some extra exciting days most of the time! And then throw in the other little guy that I watch during the days - he's 3 1/2 - it's usually just chaos around here! lol Staying at home and moving to a new place led me to look online for adult interaction! That's how I found blogging a year ago and shortly thereafter I found out about digi-scrapping. I have been hooked on both ever since!!!

I will tell you that I am slightly addicted to all things social media. Probably the quickest way to get me is by tweeting @ me! :) I am attending my first blogger conference in a couple weeks - Bloggy Boot Camp in Boston and I can not wait!!! I know I am going to learn so much about blogging and social media in general.

When it comes to digi-scrapping I have used Gimp all the way up til this week. I recently got a Bamboo Craft and it came with Photoshop Elements 8. I have done 2 layouts in it so far and am LOVING it!!! I can't wait to learn about all the new things I can do with this program and the tablet too!

So anyhow - I look forward to getting to know y'all and sharing all the exciting Pretty in Green news! Exciting news like: There's a speed scrap on Thursday 4/21 at 9pm EST - hope to see you there!!!

Pretty in Green is looking to add on to her Team, a few more CT girls and one Girl for Blogging!

CT requirements:

-Make 1 (or more) LO or Hybrid project per kit

-Post your LO in at least 3 galleries. The GS as one gallery you pick the other

-enable at least 4 times a month

-Comment on at least 5 layouts in the Pretty in Green Gallery on new release day/week

-Create an occasional freebie

Blogger:

-Blog 2-3 times a week on the Pretty in Green Blog with different points of interest such as contests, store info/sales, highlights and such.

-Prepare the Blog for New Releases so I can add last minute info and freebies, and publish the newsletter.

eeeh, so i got sick again... my son is in his first year of school and he's bringing home all the stuff from school passing it on to my little girl and then i get it, pooo.... i've been coughing up a lung all week, and so has Ana, poor thing.... anyways i managed to get these packs done before i felt too bad. Remember Me & Remember Me Baby are Journaling mats to help get those gears turning to help you write a little story about the photos on your page. Journaling is an important part of scrapbooking, anyone can stick a photo down in a book, but with scrapbooking you have a chance to tell a story about those photos and in return remember that moment in time later in life, or even for future generations to learn about what you were about. Remember Me Baby helps you keep track of your little one's milestones.... personally i really wish i had that set when i started my sons book, heck if i could remember half of it now, that's why i feel it's important to journal, i should journal more! anyways enough of me typing away here are the packs:

a little new release

just a quick blog today, I’m still feeling under the weather, my dear hubby gave me a cold.... anyways this week i have a really cool set of number/date buttons. i created these simply because I am a lazy scrapper and i wanted double digit numbers all set for me when I sit down to scrap my p365, so i made this pack I call it Thirty One, because it has 3 sets of 31 numbers and 3 sets of days of the week tabs. I hope you enjoy this little new release, it is 25% off for the weekend!

not only is it good for p365 projects, but for any layout that you'd want a number button on, such as this layout by Mel she used the buttons to show the months she was pregnant, so cute right!
